The Compnet Global Ranking System

THE COMPNET GLOBAL RANKING SYSTEM

Gracie Barra’s commitment to recognising and celebrating the achievements of its athletes reflects the organization and school’s dedication to fostering growth both on and off the mat. The CompNet Global Ranking System honours athletes’ hard work, victories, and accomplishments on a global scale, regardless of location. This system celebrates those who embody resilienceintegrityleadership through competition, and an unwavering commitment to Gracie Barra’s values.

TRACKING COMPETITORS EXCELLENCE

Mastery in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu goes beyond technique—it’s about the growth gained through every competition. Each tournament is an opportunity to test skills, face challenges, and develop as an athlete. The CompNet Global Ranking System is crucial in tracking the progress of Gracie Barra athletes worldwide. What makes it particularly exciting is its international reach: whether you’re competing in a regional, national or European tournament, your performance counts toward your global ranking. This worldwide connection provides a fair platform for athletes to showcase their talents and climb the ranks.

WHY THIS SYSTEM MATTERS

The CompNet Global Ranking System is a vital tool for athletes, coaches, and schools alike. It fosters healthy competition, motivating athletes to challenge themselves, improve, and set higher goals. It helps identify the next generation of leaders, competitors, and role models within the Gracie Barra community. Additionally, it creates a global network where athletes can connect, share experiences, and celebrate each other’s success.

HOW POINTS ARE AWARDED IN COMPNET TOURNAMENTS

The system rewards athletes based on their medal performances, with more points awarded for higher medals:

  • Gold Medal: 9 points
  • Silver Medal: 4 points
  • Bronze Medal: 1 point

TOURNAMENT MULTIPLIERS: LEVELS OF COMPETITION

The System includes multipliers to recognise the varying levels of competition. Higher levels are more challenging, and athletes are rewarded accordingly:

  1. CN Regionals: Local tournaments within a region—great for beginners and intermediates to gain experience.
    Multiplier: x1
  2. CN Nationals: National tournaments with athletes from neighbouring areas, offering a higher level of competition.
    Multiplier: x2
  3. CN Europeans: Premier tournaments featuring top athletes from across the continent.
    Multiplier: x3

TIE-BREAKING CRITERIA: GOING THE EXTRA MILE

If two or more athletes tie on points, the ranking is decided based on:

  • Most Wins: The athlete with the most victories ranks higher.
  • Most Total Medals: If wins are tied, the athlete with the most total medals takes the higher position.
  • Most Gold Medals: If still tied, the athlete with the most gold medals ranks higher.

ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES TO HELP #1 RANKED ATHLETES TO KEEP GROWING AS A COMPETITOR

  • Every #1 ranked gets free entries to CompNet the following year and a GBWear voucher.
  • Black Belts Adults also get the opportunity to film for GB Online.
